Dphoto Listens...

Dphoto has strived to listen to the needs and concerns of it's members. A lot of your suggestions have made sense, and were implemented. One of the most exciting thing to happen is the conversion of Dphoto to it's own dedicated server on Nov.1.

Please use this area to post any other suggestions you may have. If it make sense, we'll do it. If not...don't get mad, at least we listened :)

With your help we can make this the best photography site on the net. It will be the best because you are the users, and Dphoto wants to give you want you want...

That is great news, Steve. Way to go.

As to suggestions, Number One would be some tweaking of the forum vs gallery linking. Maybe reevaluating the main page's links is in order. I have a hard time getting from forum to gallery. Partly, I think, due to the pages opening in a new window. But I am confused by the "A" vs "B" member photo areas and their separation from "Featured Galleries", Front Page, etc. It's hard to tell when/if I've seen everything, and what's new. There's always that feeling that I've missed something.

By problems do you mean the gallery does not open? I know what you mean by the A vs. B. B was created after A due to some registration issues...(cookies not not holding for some people. A has been very good and very stable. A has a lot of photos in it...I proobably would make some people unhappy if I nuked. Feel kind of trapped on that one. I'm open to suggestions. The featured galleries are galleries selected by Dphoto, and cannot be posted to without Dphoto approval...

Nope, there have been no problems opening galleries. I just feel lost trying to find all the places with pictures in them that are out there. I am never quite 100% sure where I am, where I've been or where I have not been. The same for uploading - there are several places to upload and I always seem to have a bit of trouble locating the right place. I tried uploading some samples to one of the "lens" galleries and ended up unintentionally putting them one level "up" in the structure.

I think to a certain extent, the way it shows random and/or recent pictures might be part of my confusion - the pictures duplicate a lot so it's hard to tell if I've gone somewhere new or not.

Just created two new gallery links in the main menu. One is for "Latest Member Photos"
