OF the recognized "masters" or even more general professional photographers?
I can never pick a favorite but Ansel Adams, Art Wolfe, and Brandenburg are probably my top three picks.

ooo...tought one
... Robert Doisneau
but it is sort of like picking a favorite movie. Would be impossible for me.
I like candid people photography a lot.
Cartier-Bresson Henri (http://www.magnumphotos.com/c/htm/TreePf_MAG.aspx?Stat=Photographers_Portfolio&E=29YL53IQ1W7), Erwitt Elliott (http://www.magnumphotos.com/c/htm/TreePf_MAG.aspx?Stat=Photographers_Portfolio&E=29YL53IRYAK) (can be very funny!)
I am sure I have left out some that I like even more...

Bresson has some excellent photos...as a person he seems really......pompous and arrogant. Never heard of Erwitt before so looks like I'm going to have to do some looking. Thanks for the link!
