I am old and new to digital photos,(was never good with the old style cameras) I have a Fuji A201 that I got last winter. Well I took pictures at my neices wedding and the pictures are all dark. They had no photographer so the ones I took are it. Its like the flash isn't enough even in my house with daylight. I have Jasc paintshop pro 8 on my machine and slowly followed directions, well I lightened the photos but the faces details are so vague. I was only 6 to 8 feet away for all photos and the detail of faces is bad, is there a way to get them better? I am attaching a photo for you to see b4 I lightened..........thank youfile:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/Mom/Desktop/Picture%20053.jpg

Welcome to dphoto. Many good people here to help you.

Looks like the link you provided is to the file on your computer's hard drive. We won't be able to see it. As a first step, post the images from the wedding to your dphoto gallery and then we can help you figure out what went wrong.

There are two ways you can do it.

1. When you are writing a message (like I am doing now), there is a button further down the page that says "Manage Attachments". Click on that and you can pick a file to upload. It should be moderately-sized - too big, and it will not be uploaded. I forget the exact size limit.

2. At the top of the page is a menu item, "Gallery", where you can upload pictures into your own private gallery area. When you do this, then your pictures will show up in the "random pictures" section of dphoto. Also, people can find your gallery by clicking your profile or by clicking the small arrow that will appear in the upper-right corner of each message you create in the dphoto forum.

Welcome to dphoto!

The first thing to do is copy and paste these instructions into a Word document and print them so that you can follow them will executing the actions on your computer

First, process your images in Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, or whatever other image processing software you're using. For posting purposes, I size the final image so that the longest length is 640 pixels. Anywhere between 600 and 700 pixels works well. Save the image as a jpg file. I usually save as a level 6, or medium, sized file.

When you're finished with your images, log on to the Internet and go to the dphot site.

When you're logged in to the forum, just click on the Gallery link in the menu bar above this thread. This will take you to the photo gallery area. Look for the menu bar above the five random photo images. On the right of the menu bar is a link that says Upload Photos. Click on that. In the next window you'll see a bunch of blank "slots" next to Choose buttons.

Click on the first Choose button. A small window will pop up that will allow you to navigate in your computer to where you have your images stored. Choose the image you want to post. When you choose an image on your computer, a small preview will appear in the small navigation window so you can confirm that it's the image you want to post. Once you're sure you have the correct image chosen, click on the Open button. The small window will disappear and the first slot will be filled with information about where your image is located on your computer. Keep doing this until you've chosen all of the images you want to post for this session.

At the bottom of that list of chosen images, change the no to yes so that you'll get email each time someone comments on your images, then click on the Upload/Submit button. After a short time, a new window will appear showing small views of the images you chose to upload and offering a bunch of places in which to put information.

My regular practice is to put in a title, my name, my email, the lens I used and the camera. In the description, you can put anything. In your case, you want to tell us how you shot the image and a brief description of the problem you're having. In other instances you might simply describe what the image is, maybe share an interesting story about the image, or tell about something that happened when you were shooting the image. Remember that this is a forum the includes people from all over the world, so when you post a photo of some place or thing, don't assume everyone knows what or where it is. I like it when people say what the landmark is and where it's located.

After you fill in the information for your images, click the Process files button at the bottom and the images will be transferred to the server. Once the job is completed, you will see text that says "No more images found. Click here to return to main menu." This is deceptive to people. It's just the server software's way of saying that it has processed all of your images and there are no more to process. When you see this window, simply click on the Click here. . . link and you'll be taken to the main Gallery window again. You should then see your images in the five images shown at the top of the window. You can then click on the thumbnail of your image to see the larger size.

I hope this helps and that I didn't miss any steps. If you still have trouble, say so and we'll help you.

Oh thanks, Don. I spend a half hour writing out detailed instructions and you accomplish the same thing in 30 sec. Not to mention the fact that I ignored the Manage Attachments option. ;)
Once again I bow to your higher intellect.

I'm sure we can help you, MB. And don't worry about the age thing... there's Grandma and Grandpa's on this site too! The dial-up connection will cost you dearly in time when uploading photo's though, so just be patient.
