My Samsung 213T arrived yesterday (replaced 19" Philips CRT), along with a Belkin UPS (replaced dying APC unit), 300GB Seagate hard disk, LG DVD+/-RW, and Seasonic 500W PSU (will power the Athlon 64 X2 and accessories when they get here). With that said, I love my new monitor - it doesn't respond to calibration quite as well, but it's pretty good nonetheless, and I bet it will fit in a dorm room better (it'll need to this fall).

A 15" Sony LCD, Windows 2000 Pro workstation 2.3 GHz and 1.5GB memory plus about 750 GB of disks, Windows 2000 Server, a pair of UPSes and flatbed scanner. Elsewhere around the ranch are my XP laptop (Living Room), and a Linux server in a back room. Except for the laptop, all systems are my own builds.

Looks like you've got a great setup there Don, but I'm a bit concerned about how long it must take you to do those 1DsMkII RAW conversions on your 2.3MHz processor?!?!!!
;)

Not a ripping fast computer or anything, but I'll play. Sony with Intel 2.66GHz P4, 512MB RAM, 314GB total HDD, a Panasonic 55" HDTV/Monitor, Sony dolby digital receiver, SBC DSL, etc...

Is that like one of those trick photos where nobody sees the boat (or whatever technical object) for the very attractive minimally clothed female? I know I'm supposed to be noticing your big screen, but my eyes never make it there for the gigantic white lens hanging from the camera nearby... ;)
BTW, I have SBC DSL, too. It certainly makes browsing photo forums much more enjoyable! :)

Actually, the Monitor's not that great for photo editing. The resolution's not great, and the colors seem a little off. I've thought about a aux monitor, but haven't followed up on it yet. It is nice for browsing Dphoto. :)

Main PC - 1gig pentium, 786mb ram, 40 gig C drive, 80 gig D drive, 80 gig E (USB drive), 60 gig F drive and 60 gig G drive, Windows 2000. The Dell is my interent PC, theres a Linksys switching unit that allows me to switch between two computers with one monitor, mouse and keyboard. Note the dormant audio/recording gear, maybe I'll get back into it someday.

Cool set up Nik. The MOTU 2408 and Alesis deck brings back memories. 8 tracks to tape. Something tells me Digital Performer is on one of those macs as well.

Good eye Steve but I don't own any Macs. The MOTU is connected to a card installed in my PC, so it's compatible with both formats. But I do believe it's mostly assosiated with Mac. I bought the ADAT when I was in last band I was in, our sound guy and drummer both bought one as well and we synced all three together to have 24 tracks. We used the set up to record our CD.
You say it brings back memories, I know you've said music has been a big part of your life, have you been involved in recording studio work as well?

My computer gear is on the old side, maybe that's because this is tools that I use for my day job building intranet applications... the shoemaker has the worst shoes. :)
In all the clutter there's a DELL dual 500MHz PC with two monitors, this is my workstation where I do programming, email, surfing etc that's work related. There's also a couple of laptops to the right of the screens, I use those when I work at the office or out at a client location.
The single screen is for my photo PC, it's a mongrel of parts, with a 2.8 GHz CPU. Next to it sits the new toy, the Epson R1800.
I couldn't get it into the shot but the shelves on the left holds a guitar amp, a bass amp, harddisk recorder, studio monitors and various rack gear for recording, and yet another old PC with recording software. This is mostly dormant right now but the band has started talking about recording again so I need to dust it off.
More shelf space than I like is also tied up by various discarded camera bags.
I need a bigger place... :)

Michael I still have a pair of CT All-Stars Black HIGH-Cuts .....Played B-ball till age 50 ....Now I just coach and the kids get a kick out of my CT's......In HS and college I was the only one on my team (s) that wore the Black Highs.......My first pair were rejects that cost me under $5.00......I can remember that we never knew who Chuck Taylor was and we simply called them "Cons"

Hi Bob,
I've been buying "All Stars", my whole life. My first pair (at age 6) were maroon high tops, and I thought my mom was going to die of embarassment paying for them :)
So where's the shot of your editing station? I mean, with as much camera equipment as you have lying about, I shudder to imagine the photoshop console you're piloting...
