That's the Enron tower in the background . . thus the name -- lol

Although I guess the name might change, depending on your opinion of God / religion.

I've been waiting to take a shot like that. Finally did it today. One day it won't be so cold and windy, and I'll try to do it right.

A picture that tells a story....now that's what I like. Nice vision. Even has some commercial potential. If you cloned out the silver building on the right, and maybe Photoshopped backround building so it was uniform...it would really have some commercial appeal.

http://www.dphoto.us/forum/images/icons/icon14.gif That's a great shot!

Mammon rules these days, unfortunately. It's unbelievable how rotten people get when they think they can get away with it. We also have those Enron type of people here in Sweden with the latest scandal being insurance company execs siphoning off money from ordinary people's pension funds, paying for renovation of their multi-million dollar flats. May they burn slowly in a really hot place... :(

They're having a photo contest here shortly in Houston. I may try to borrow a fish-eye, wait for better lighting, and get up REALLY close.

I'd like to get close enough to get rid of that light pole in the frame.

I could've moved left to do that, possibly, but it'd push the Enron Tower further to the left. I'd like to get it so that the church is fully contained within the Enron Tower.

I wouldn't try to get rid of the perspective distortions in that shot.

The sun's not really in the right part of the sky this time of year for the shot, but closer to sundown it might be fine.

PS -- you mention commercial potential. I think the Enron Tower is new enough that it's covered by copyright protections. The church probably isn't.

David,

Nice shoot. The pole is a bit annoying.

What are those vertical lines on the Enron building, especially those near the top? For example, a very heavy one near 1/3 from the left, and a couple from the right? Are they textures of the buidling?

Those are the "seams" between the window panes.

Yep, I need a fisheye or a 1Ds to get rid of that pole. At least if I want to keep the Enron building right behind the church.

If I'm willing to let it move left, it's not an issue, really.

It's gonna look VERY dramatic pointed up at that angle with a fisheye lens without any perspective corrections.

there is some scope there for sure...

not being an American I would never have got the good Vs Evil thing unlkess you'd mentioned the Enron thing...

I'd also like the Church to be contained within the main edifice so that it looks like the evil is larger.... Classic good vs Evil stuff with a few Nazgul flying around ?

I think VERY few Americans would recognize that as the Enron Tower. I only know because I work in that area of downtown.

That's the second Enron Tower. It went up just as Enron itself was crumbling. I called that one "The Rise and Fall of Enron"
