So here are my current ideas:
1. PhotoMotion (or possibly FotoMotion)
2. FlashPoint Studios (or Photography)
The State has kicked back my submission of CK Photography due to there already being a CKC Photography in NH (too similar) and since I really don't want to use my middle initial or my full name for the business name, I'm trying to come up with something catchy.
Do you like either of those?
Ideas? I do mostly motorsports and "action type" work but I also don't want to pigeon-hole myself by picking a "narrow minded" type of name.

Hey, I thought I was Flashpointe! :) I actually came up with that name for the last band I was in and went ahead and bought flashpointe.net for the web site. Sometime after certain events caused the group to fall apart so since I spent the cash for the site I thought I might as well use it for my photography.
That being said I must say I like your first choice. :D

The first thing FredG would think of is ChrisK Photography.

Probably just seeped in on a subconscious level. ;) I was going to say Imagine Imagery but then I Googled it. Found out I wasn't original and stuff.

Hmm, I like(d) Flashpoint, too. Seemed slightly familiar, but couldn't put my finger on it... Maybe just Flash Studios? I guess that's a bit boring.
PhotoMotion doesn't do too much for me, sorry. Too close to Photomaton if scanned quickly, and sounds like a program name.

If you wanted to avoid having to get another domain name I suppose finding something that is close to what you originally aimed for but different enough from the other business (eg 'CKPhoto' ?) would be good...
Or OTH you could try something else working in the initials (eg 'piCKtures' or 'PiCKture This' ??)

You mentioned not wanting to use your name, but consider this for a moment. Normally, a business name is special because you build a brand around it and then people know that your brand means something specific.
With photography, really, you are the brand. You may have a business name, but in the end, you are the business and the product. I would think that using your name works better since then you can say "Hi, I am <your name here> of <your name here> Photography".
I think that a business name works better if you are building a photo agency or plan to franchise like Olan Mills.
My two cents.

Thanks for the ideas, guys (and girl) as well as the thoughts, Matt. In the end, it's up to the State anyway so I'll give it another go on Friday and see what they say. :)

Since it is digital you might call it E-Motion Digital Photography.
but not everyone likes puns as well as I.
