Is there an option for email notification that I've missed. It would be nice to know if someone has responded to a thread that I'm following.

When you read a thread, under "Thread tools", there is "Subscribe to this thread", which I believe does what you ask for - I'm not 100% sure tho'.

yes mats is right it will notify you if someone else posts to any thread you subscribe too.

I believe you also have to enable notifications in your user account under the 'Options' menu.
Quick Links->User Contol Panel->Edit Options
