Canon 300 f4L IS ?

Thanks to Bob Gleason's good words about Allen's Cameras I called to get a price on a new Canon 300 f4 last week. They were out but had a mint used one for a good price. I ordered it and recieved it yesterday. In the limited testing I have done it seems very sharp and and the autofocus seems ok on my 10D (A little questionable in low light). My question is with the IS. It has a very audibal (as in it seems loud to me) "click" when IS first comes on and when it goes off. Is this normal for this lens? The only IS lens I have any experence with at all is my friends 300 f2.8 and I don't remember that loud of a click with it but it has been a while since I used it. I will be testing the IS and the sharpness of the f4 against his f2.8 later today if he is going to be in the studio this afternoon.

Thanks,
Bruce
