New Olympus SP-800UZ

Hi everyone. I've been an amateur digital photographer for about 5 years. I started out with an Olympus FE-100, which I used for about 2 years before upgrading to an Olympus FE-340. I loved both of these cameras! (In fact, I still use the FE-100, but the FE-340 is broken.) I feel that I've gotten pretty good at using all of the different functions of the camera, and am proud of all the hundred of shots I was able to get with both of these cameras. But I really wanted to upgrade, since my newer camera is broken, preferably staying with an Olympus camera. I am especially interested in zooming in for shots, so I wanted a high zoom, but without having to worry about switching lenses, etc. After quite a bit of research, I thought I had found the perfect camera for me, the Olympus SP-800UZ. I knew it was a different kind of digital camera, and that it was quite larger than I was used to. But it has 30X zoom! Here's the problem: After a few days of "playing" with the camera, I am disappointed in the pictures I'm able to get. Every setting and "trick" I had used with my other 2 cameras is not working in getting the "perfect" (or even a good) shot. When I zoom in to try to get a shot, I just can't get a clear shot. Even before taking the shot while zoomed in, it's just a blur. The normal (not zoom) pictures appear grainy, and not clear. The colors on my shots are fair at best. I'm pretty sure it's not the camera, it's the photographer! I'm asking anyone out there for any tips, tricks, or advice. I am so excited for this camera, and I know I can get some really great shots someday! I just need some "guidance". Thanks in advance. (Sorry for such a long post!)

Samantha
