Can someone enlighten me what's is the best storage solution for both the camera body and lense.. is it necessary to get a separate camera box and to place drying agent, silica gel in it ?

Re: Proper storage method for 300D

Depends on your circumstances.

1. How long are you going to store it?

2. What humidity is it where you're storing it?

If you plan on storing it "permanently", you may want to use some drying agent (such as Silica Gel).

If you live in a very humid place, especially if it's non-airconditioned, you should probably also think about how it's stored and use some sort of drying agent.

If you live in an area with normal humidity (say around 80% rh) and you're not planning to store it for a very long time, I wouldn't worry too much.

The reason that the camera is shipped in packaging with Silica Gel inside is that the manufacturer has no control over where it's stored, how it's stored, etc. So they must make sure that within reason, the camera arrives to the customer in a good condition.

Others may have other thoughts, these are just my ideas.

More information needed about what you mean by "long-term storage" and in what conditions. Regardless, in any long-term storage situation, definitely remove the battery.

Re: Proper storage method for 300D

Sorry for not clarify my storage conditions;

My storage period will be not permanent type, around 1-2 months with interval usage of once or twice. I always remove my battery after every use.

ambient humidity will be approx 80%++

Just my curiosity, actualy for dSLR is it necessary to have a special storage cabinet like conventional SLR where they place silica gel and even illuminate the said compartment..

Thanx for all the advises....
