Photo Gallery Posting Rules

Hello everyone. There has been lots of talk about the photo gallery recently. The following rules now apply to image posting, all for the greater good of the Dphoto Community:

1) Member limit of 10 images per 24 hr period. Photos posted in excess of 10 may be deleted.

2) No Nude, sexually explicit or pornographic photos.

3) Photo file size upload limits are as follows:

4) The gallery is not for hosting of for sale images for Ebay etc. Images will be deleted.

Max width: 800 px
Max height: 1000 px (Please aim for max of 800 or below)

Min width: 300 px
Min Heigth: 300px

Max file size 800 kb (Please try to keep under 200kb, image quality will not be affected)

Image and file size restrictions are extremely important for the health and performance of the site. Thanks to all for your input and cooperation.

Steve, thanks for regulating the system. Hopefully this will give others the opportunity to be able to show their work without it being buried on the "last page." Keep up the great site.

You'll be happy to know that I resized most all of my photos to the above parameters....and as small as my gallery is, the size was reduced by more than a half of what it was before!

Thanks everyone for all your support. You will all find that the site well run smoother, and, you'll be able to post many many more photos with your given space allocation and your photos will look much better because the majority of viewers won't have to scroll around to see the full picture.

I know who is a big culprit of larger file sizes........and I won't do it anymore.....Glad, also we are back to the 10 post maximum.......

sounds like a great idea. i know i am guilty of some pretty large files sizes, but will be more careful in future

I think those are very sensible rules, no need for larger sizes to be able to show your photos.

I sort of disagree on this. In this day of decent monitors, I think an image size of 1024 wide is a better limit. The old 800x600 is a real throw back IMO. Does it really matter as long as the file size is kept to around 200kB?

You are correct regarding the filesize and the most popular monitor size being 1024. That's why I chose 800 as the width as it fits into the design of the site perfectly without having to scroll width. If I have the site downsize and allow for a larger view, another image is created. Make sense?

But that's not happening. If I say submit a 1024x700 image say, the website downsizes to 800x560 but does not make a larger image as it used to. All I'm getting is two 800x560 images. This is what is confusing.
