Canon Fall 2007 Rebates Announced

Canon has announced the Fall 2007 Rebates. Canon's last bout with rebates was somewhat a debacle as many customers experienced a great deal of hassle and frustration in obtaining their rebate (yours truly included). This years rebates are instant, and include the following:

85 1.2 II - $125
16-35 2.8 II - $100
70-200 F/4 IS - $75
17-40 f/4 - $50
70-200 2.8 IS - $125
50 1.2 - $100
efs 17-55 IS - $70
70-200 f/4 - $40
100-400 f/4.5-5.6 - $100
24-70 2.8 - $80
efs 10-22 - $50
85 1.8 - $25
50 1.4 $20
60f/2.8 macro - $30
580 exII Speedlite - $50

Rebates run Oct. 18th thru January 13th.

Pretty lame stuff. I was hoping for a big rebate on the 5D.

Me too...makes me wonder if the 5D upgrade is still a year away...Seems like companies like to clear out and lower inventory prior to a model upgrade so thier inventories aren't clogged with obselete product.

If I'm not mistaken, you can buy the 5D cheaper today than you could last year at this time if you applied $700 in rebates to the purchase.

That may be true, I'm not sure, but I was hoping rebates would be offered that would bring the price down further to make the decision between it and the 40D. After seeing the European and Canadian rebates I got my hopes up, but at the current price point I'm very happy with the 40D.
