very cool. What depth were you at. One thing I would like to try is colour balance with RAW adjustment on a photo taken underwater. Have you tried it and if so how well does it work?

This was at a spot called Garden Eel Cove on the west side of the big island. We were at about 50' here, on our way down to see the eels at 80'. A fantastic dive, I saw Mantas, eels, dolphins and an octopus.  All of my UW shots were taken with my old Olympus P&S(C4040 I think...5MP JPGs). So no RAW mode on that one. SLR housings are too expensive (more than the body!) and I don't dive enough anymore to justify the expense. I'm going to the Channel Islands next weekend, and am considering picking up a Canon S70/housing which has RAW and a UW WB setting. Still shopping though

There are some great spots around the big island. I was there several years ago. There some lava tubes on the north side as I recall - about 5' in diameter and as I was sticking my head in 3 sea turtles the size of volkswagons came out. We did some fabulous diving last year at Maui too.
Being able to whitebalance under water, if it works, would make a huge difference. But like you, I'm not diving enough to justify the expense. Look fwd to seeing the channel islands photos.
