This is the canyon that caught fire last month where I took the pic of the Bull Elk and herd. It will be green by next spring, but it looks like Dante's Inferno now.

Looks like the Canberra hills a couple of years ago (when our city lost 500 houses in one day, in Jan 2003). Burnt landscape always looks so sad...

Stephen, fire was July 21st. I took the pic of bull elk herd June 19th.

I like the "looking down"perspective you caught here....were you on top of a hill overlooking this canyon......great shot.

Bob, I was on the road that winds down through the canyon. I believe it's about 6 miles before you get to the bottom. If you look very carefully at the bottom on the photo, you will see 2 wooden stakes, some barbed wire and chicken wire. That's what we use for guard rails here on the west coast! I'll post another pic I took from the top of the road where you can actually see this shot in it.
