Thanks Michael and Kevin. Nothing special to determine the exposure. I just meter the part of the scene that I want properly exposed (in this case the bridge); accept the fact that most, if not all, lights are going to blow out; and shoot. I then bracket one stop up and one stop down and choose the best exposure of the three. I always shoot manual and RAW. In this case I only did two shots--the metered setting and a one-stop over exposure. The image I used was the first/metered shot. The only thing of note done in post-processing was to open the shadows with the shadow/highlight tool to bring out more detail under the bridge and in the water reflection.
