Very interesting story. And it's a very good photo, but unless you know a lot about local flora, it's probably not possible to say if this photo is in a zoo or taken in the wild where the bird lives - so the "message" of the picture is a bit lost. If you had the person or (for example) the Golden Gate bridge in the background, it would make the story behind it a bit more complete in the picture. I hope you take this constructive criticism the right way: it's a good photo, but it needs explaining to give the full story.
[A shot of the guy on the skateboard with the bird on his shoulder would be great!]

Thanks.... it was a "spur of the moment" shot. I didn't see the bird initially, a friend pointed it out as we were leaving. Mats, I would have loved a skateboard shot also, but we were out on the trails. I am guilty of making the assumption that everyone understands that "trailhead" means the beginning of a trail into the woods, generally in remote wilderness areas.... so not likely to be a zoo. If I'd had more presence of mind, I would have asked him to set the bird on his shoulder... we were in the parking lot where the trail begins, so not a lot of "scenic" background to include unfortunately! And no offense taken, criticism always appreciated and helps to know what to look for next time when composing!

I have a fair idea what a "trailhead" looks like, and it's not a "skateboard" area - I was just saying that it would make a good, interesting shot [if you can get it right - there are easier things to photograph than skateboarders - they either look too still or too blurry in most photos - I've taken hundreds of shots, none too good...]
