First Impressions
Kodak was the first camera manufacturer to produce a 6MP digital camera. Nine years later , they are the first manufacturer to produce a 14MP 35mm DSLR. The Kodak DCS Pro SRL/n is Kodak's latest assault at the rapidly developing 35mm professional digital camera market.
Kodak suprised the market in February with the announcement of the Pro SLR/n. The camera's heritage is from the 14/n which was plagued with a delayed release and output that did not live up to some photographer's expectations. Kodak renamed the camera and fitted it with an all new full frame 14MP Belgium made CMOS sensor and new electronics. While creating a file size of 4500 x 3000, the new sensor also has an available ISO range of 6 to 1600. The magnesium alloy body remains the same as the original 14n, and uses many of the same components as the Nikon N80.
The Kodak DCS Pro SLR/n is aimed at the portrait, wedding and commercial photography markets. With a frame rate of 1.7 frames per second and a buffer of 12 images, sports and photojournalists need not apply.
Over the course of the next few pages I'll show you a few images and give you my impressions of how the camera performed.
