Since Canon has discontinued the 200 1.8, it has evolved into one of the most sought after lenses in the used market. Truly an incredible lens which gives great sharp images in lighting conditions impossible with any other lens. Until you have shot this lens, it is very hard to describe just how good it is.

None if you can handle a monopod

Probably the most sought-after prime in its class, and like everyone knows been discontinued by Canon. Excellent sports lens, especially for baseball and basketball although I am sure it is used for a wide range of sports. No IS but the monopod covers that. A Wimberly set up with a ball-head gives the most ease of use and flexibility.
Sure it is heavy but what long fixed focal isn't?

There can't be a better-performing lens anywhere at any price. If only it weighed 1/2 what it does. There is no IS, but I really don't have a problem with that, it's so heavy that a tripod or monopod is essential anyway. But handholding is still viable, and you can get the extra shutter speed by virtue of the f/1.8 aperture. Wide open it's perfectly sharp, so no worry about sacrificing anything (except DOF).
I am surprised that it works so well with a 2x teleconvertor (se image below). It's much better than with the 70-200 @ 200mm.
As has been reported in some forums, this lens works much better with a clear glass element in the rear filter holder, per Canon specifications. Doubters can compare this image to see that this is real, not myth:
