Description: The EOS-1Ds Mark II's phenomenal 16.7 Megapixel full frame (36 x 24mm) CMOS sensor produces files which convert to 50MB uncompressed TIFF at 24 bit colour depth: the standard acceptable quality for leading international photo agencies and stock libraries. It features a built-in low-pass filter to eliminate false colour and moiré effects, plus an on-chip noise elimination circuit. Low (L:50) and high (H:3200) settings can be selected to extend the camera's wide 100-1600 ISO speed range.

Pros: Speed, Resolution, Colours
Cons: Price (as usual)

Hard to fault this baby. After a 1Ds it is a pleasure. Almost identical in every way to a 1D Mark II, so if you have one of these, you're in heaven. This is an early review, I will come back and elucidate once I've played some more. I am also doing some comparisons with a Hasselblad H1 / P25 combo which should be interesting.

Pros: Image Quality - Speed - Versatility
Cons:

The 1DS Mark II is truly a landmark camera. The image quality is outstanding as is it's versatility. The high ISO performance and autofocus is greatly improved over the original 1DS. Speed of operaption was also greatly improved. So far I have only printed at 12 x 18...using ISO 1600 the print quality is especially amazing. If you have not shot with a full frame camera in awhile, you'll find your lens choices will change as your field of view will now be different.

I have used this camera on several low light assignments from sports to concerts. I could not be more pleased. If there was a higher rating than 10, I would give it to the the 1DS Mark II.

Pros: Quality, quality, quality
Cons: Cost, weight

A fantastic camera, and the perfect complement to it's faster, lower resolution brother, the 1D Mark II. With the same build quality, long battery life (1200 shots!), and menus it's an easy move if you already have another 1D camera. The resolution (16.7MP) is beyond belief after shooting other cameras. You can crop generously and still have an image that will print big. It has the low noise at high iso that we have come to expect from 1D cameras, and a generous shooting buffer for continuous "machine gun" shooting, if slower than the 1D Mark II. The full frame sensor let's you really get the field of view from your super-wide lenses that you miss from film.

The only downsides are the same as other cameras of this caliber. It's expensive and heavy. If you have a strong arm, and a deep pocket, then run, do not walk, out and buy one immediately. I'm sorry I waited as long as I did.
