Description:

This lens does what many pros thought couldn't be done - replace the previous L-series 28-70 f/2.8 lens with something even better. Extended coverage to an ultra-wide angle 24mm makes it ideal for digital as well as film shooters, and the optics are even better than before with two Aspherical elements and a totally new UD glass element. It's now sealed and gasketed against dust and moisture, and a new processing unit makes the AF faster than ever.

Like the 28-70 (which I also have) this is a lens that is always a starter on a 1 series camera. It's the perfect match with a 70-200/2.8 IS. No faults with this baby. Some had build problems, but not me. Love the lens!!

Bought this lens to shoot a wedding, and was not disappointed. This lens has just performed past my expectations. In the short time I have been using Canon equipment, I have other Canon non L lens, but there is just no comparison to a L lens........

Cons:

Infamous "trim ring" loosening, some have focus problems
|
|
I've owned this lens for over two years and it is my primary glass. Mins is one of the first - I pre-ordered from Robertsimaging.com a couple months before they became available.
I did have the front trim ring come apart (resulting in something rattling around loose inside the housing), as have many, many other owners of this lens. Mine is sharp at all focal lengths, although there have been a few people who found theirs was not focusing at infinity.

Incredible lens. Worth the price. This is the first L lens I purchased. Great for all types of photographs.
